Pet Relinquishment

Surface Creek Animal Shelter strives to find loving and permanent homes for all animals in our care. Should you need to relinquish an animal to our shelter, please consider the following alternatives prior to relinquishing.

We ask that you please call us and discuss your options before relinquishing your pet to the shelter.

We understand that unavoidable situations arise and that keeping your pet might not be an option for you. Before you relinquish your pet, however, please review the resources below. While we are dedicated to providing care to relinquished animals we ask that you make an effort to rehome your animal before calling us. Our facility has limited space, please know that we may ask you to keep your pet until space becomes available. We request a relinquish fee (see fee chart below) to help cover the expenses of food and medical care for relinquished pets.

Below are examples of the most common reasons for pet relinquishment.
