Are you ready to Adopt?

Adopting a Dog

Adopting a dog can be very rewarding, but it is also a big and long term commitment.  Please be sure you are ready to adopt and take these important factors into consideration:

  • Adopting a puppy:  Do you have time for housebreaking, training, and supervising a puppy?

  • Adopting an adult dog:  Do you have time for refreshing manners? Taking for a couple walks a day?

  • Can you afford food, veterinary care, vaccinations, supplies?

  • Do you have the proper environment for a dog?

  • What will you do when you travel?

  • What if you move?

  • Can you make the commitment to care for this dog for his lifetime?

When you decide to Adopt

Once you spot a dog or cat that you are interested in meeting, you can:

  • Speak with one of our Shelter staff or volunteers to learn about the pet’s history, personality and care requirements.

  • Visit with the animal in our meeting room or ask to take them on a short walk.

  • If you decide to adopt, fill out the Adoption Application Form at the Shelter, or print and complete the form (below) and bring it to the Shelter

  • Pay the adoption fees and take your new pet home!

Adoption Fees

Adoption fees help offset the cost of housing, feeding, training and providing medical care for the many animals that come to our Shelter each year. The adoption fees at our Shelter are a fantastic value! For puppies, kittens, dogs and cats, they include:

  • Spay or neuter surgery

  • Initial vaccinations

Dogs & Puppies   $75

Cats & Kittens      $50
